Woman Searches Online Adult Chat Rooms for Affairs — and for a Man to Kill Her Husband

The internet’s first murder trial centered around a woman with a skill for manipulation, Sharee Miller.

Online adult chat rooms are known destinations for sexual hookups. In 1999, Sharee Miller, 26, a Michigan mom with an abusive history and a knack for manipulation, also used the sites to search for someone who’d kill her husband. She found him.

Who is Sharee Miller?

Born in 1971, Sharee Miller had a rough childhood. She grew up in a trailer park, and by age 16, she was on her own. In 1997, she was a single mother of three when she met Bruce Miller, 47, a successful business owner in Flint, Michigan.

Sharee took a bookkeeping job at Bruce’s company, B&D Auto SalvageDespite the two-decade age gap, they became a couple, moved in together, and then got married.

According to Chuck’s relatives, he considered Sharee to be “the perfect wife.” He looked past her tendency to overspend, but to help her keep a better eyeball on finance, he got a home computer. 

Sharee Miller discovers online adult chat rooms

While surfing the ’net for vacation destinations, Sharee discovered adult chat rooms. She started to frequent them to live out sexual fantasies with unseen strangers. Sharee used at least two dozen aliases with suggestive names including Horny 7241 and IWANTTOBELAID.

Soon, Sharee met Jerry Cassaday, who went by the screen name RENODUDES. former police officer from Kansas City, Missouri, Cassaday worked as a pit boss at a casino in Reno, Nevada.

Sharee Miller has affair with Jack Cassaday

On a trip to Reno with a friend in 1999, Sharee met Cassaday, whose marriage was in a rocky place. The affair picked up, and Sharee went to Reno whenever she could. When they were apart, she would send sexually explicit emails and videos. She also began telling Cassaday that her husband physically and sexually abused her. 

Sharee claimed that Bruce’s beatings led to her miscarrying Cassaday’s baby — but the truth was, after her 1995 tubal ligation, she wasn’t even able to conceive. Around this time, though,Sharee brought up killing Bruce to Cassaday.

Meanwhile, Bruce was in the dark about his wife’s other life. He was even making plans to adopt Sharee’s kids.

Bruce Miller is killed

On November 8, 1999, Bruce was found fatally shot at his salvage yard. It initially appeared to be a robbery gone wrong — and Sharee had a solid alibi protecting her.
